Bournemouth Adult Learning undertook a project to investigate alternative approaches to supporting learners with hearing impairment in a classroom environment. One part of this project was the creation of a course in digital photography and photo editing.
 
studioVerse developed a highly interactive course featuring animation, software simulations and task-based activities. The course was designed to provide the learner with the option of video footage of a signer (British Sign Language) to accompany each topic. Learners can navigate through each topic and fast-forward or rewind to a particular section using a control panel.

At a technical level this presented several issues, including the need to load and synchronise independent media clips. The course was authored in Adobe® Flash®, using Flash Video and ActionScript.
